A Styled Occasion

OK friends, I have been DYING to let you in on this great project that I got to share with a group of hard-working gals back in May!  Girls with A LOT of talent!  Check out our area's hot new venue - The Barn at Bird's Eye Cove Farm.  This building is so breathtaking and soulfully constructed that you can't HELP but fall in love here!  When I was asked by my friend Erika of Element Photography to participate in a styled shoot to promote this amazing place, I said "Yes".  There are a variety of things you don't have to ask me twice: "want some chips?", "want to go shopping?", "want to live, laugh and love?"!   Erika had paired up with the amazing and lovely Tam of Blue Lily Events, and they wanted another set of stylist's eyes. With a lovely collaboration of ideas, Tam, Erika, and I joined forces with Sarah of Smiling Rain Prop Rentals and away we went!  With cake bakers on board, florists, bridal boutiques and a crew of amazing hair and make-up mavens, we created just the look that we were chasing.  Of course, my role centred around paper much of the time (how I LOVE the stuff) and I was honoured to design and create a small collection of tags and escort cards to fit our colours and theme.  Two station wagons full of the contents of our home (aka 'props') bustled down the drive and one confused Corgi was left barking at a blank wall, wondering where his china cabinet, settee and candle sticks had gone!  This is no joke; he walked in, saw that we had been robbed and started howling at the moon!  Over the course of a weekend, we styled an already stunning McDonald and Lawrence structure, in to a magical and fresh escape from the 'norm'!  With old newspapers as a table runner (scrounged by E from an overflowing box at a garage sale), along with our vintage suitcase collections, candle sticks from an old church in Quebec and china from here there and everywhere, we created a swoon-worthy setting (if I may say so myself!).  I know I would have loved to have been a guest at that 'wedding' - and I think our real-life bride and groom models enjoyed their time, as it no doubt brought up memories of their very own nuptials just one year before!  Surrounded by the sparkling waters of Sansum Narrows, craggy cliffs and arbutus-covered bluffs, the lush rolling fields dotted with Highland Cattle and the fresh sea air, this place flows with magic!   Sit back and enjoy the stunning work of my fabulous friend Erika as she hits another one out of the field!  This is the essence of Island living!

Beautifully styled wedding!!!!  I love country weddings in barns and all the details are gorgeous!   I'll take my place on the gold caned settee beside the country chicken...the highland calf is pretty cute too!
